2026: OCT 5 - OCT 11

MONDAY:

it's always a bit of a struggle to wake up on monday morning, but it's extra rough when you are coming back to work after being sick all weekend. i powered through, barely.

i spent the evening on the couch, reading + trying to stay awake until bedtime. i finished reading something rad. i have mixed feelings about that book. on one hand, the story read like a perfect 80s movie. i really enjoyed the writing. but - just as most books do these days - i was hit with smut...twice. UGH. i didn't realize it was in the book, so i skipped over both parts, but i was so disappointed! this book was also 668 pages, which means it was 300 pages too long. (see what i mean by having mixed feelings? 😂)

TUESDAY:

i woke up feeling much better. the workday was good in the morning + absolutely crazy-busy in the afternoon. it was one of those times where you look at the clock and somehow 3 hours passed like they were 3 minutes.

how can i walk 5 miles a day and be fine, but walking up 3 flights of stairs can take me out?!?! 😂

jared had band practice all evening, so i grabbed chipotle for jackson + myself for dinner. 10/10, like always! i read a little of my current book + relaxed after a long day.

WEDNESDAY:

i worked from home today. it was a relief to not have to go in the office, since i am still trying to recover after being sick all weekend.

jared worked on putting a screen door on our front door all day. it was a labor of love + brings wonderful natural light to our living room!

we deferred grocery shopping in favor of a short walk + some family time.

THURSDAY:

i had one of the best workdays! one thing that made it such a great day was i started listening to sunrise on the reaping on audio. it's the fifth book in the hunger games series, following the story of haymitch. it is just soooooo good.

we had a chill night at home + ended it with a long walk in our neighborhood. we are in an interesting stage of parenting right now, so i was ready to just lay in bed + decompress. it must be noted that i finished the day with 19k steps. 💪🏼

FRIDAY:

a much-needed WFH day. it was mostly spent working through yearly trainings, but i was glad to have the time to do so. the coming weeks are going to be very full at work.

i did an online pick-up order for ulta. while i would love to browse makeup + skincare for an hour, it wasn't in the cards for today. we grabbed coffee + went grocery shopping with the kids. i know, i know, friday nights in your 40s are wiiiiiild.

the parking lot at aldi was filled with blooming trees. it made my heart so happy!

after the kids went to bed, jared + i stayed up until midnight binging below on netflix.

SATURDAY:

we all slept in, which was so nice!

after jared + i finished breakfast, we drank our coffee + finished the last two episodes of below. we really, really liked it!

jared worked on a house project (not the grass this time, LOL) so the kids + i hung out most of the day.

while i was making dinner, i decided to turn on the OU game during its 3rd quarter. i had such low expectations that i did not watch the first half. as the game went into the 4th quarter, i started to get that nervous/excited feeling. when they kicked the game-winning field goal, i SCREAMED and jumped and cheered! june loved it + wanted to join in the fun. i immediately facetimed my dad because duh. what a game!

our new outdoor entry rug was delivered, just in time for our purchase of several pumpkins + mums. our front porch is starting to look sooooo cute for autumn! i ended the night by cleaning up while marinating in my self-tan.

SUNDAY:

we went to the 9am service. i was soooo tired from being awake at 4am after a very weird dream about work. 😂

i tried to take an afternoon nap, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. jared brought me a chocolate milk from dutch bros, which sounds like the most ridiculous thing, but it's less than $4 for a large + is for sure the best chocolate milk i've had. highly recommend!

i made a street corn sweet potato taco bowls for dinner + it was very, very good! we sipped coffee outside while the kids played on the trampoline +baked cookies. it was a chill end to the weekend. (no sunday scaries though because i have the day off tomorrow!)
