i don't say this very often, but thursday was a bad day.
a completely unfair situation at work left me at a loss.
i could not find the bright side.
all my focus was on the shadows + the unjustness.
couple that with going through jackson's newborn clothes-
it was just a hard day. but it was also just that - a day.
i woke up with a better outlook the next day.
His mercies are new + His grace is sufficient.

i am currently revamping my style.
i can no longer dress myself as i did ten years ago.
trends + styles are different for me now.
i am working on defining what it looks like for me, now
not 25-year-old amber.

we worked allllllll week on our upcoming garage sale.
we cleaned out three quarters of the basement.
it feels so good to get rid of the clutter!

i’ve had several people mention a difference in me lately.
it’s true.
i have been working on curating a life that feels good.
not one that just looks good.
my prayer as of late has been psalm 119:37-
turn my eyes from looking at worthless things
and give me life in Your ways.”

i read the maid in two days.
what started out as a wonderful reading experience
turned into the utmost disappointment. ever.
the first 3/4s of the book were soooo good!
and the last quarter was so dang disappointing.
i closed the book + was almost mad.
the more i think about it, the more frustrated i am.

i am my truest self in a pair of shorts + an oversized sweatshirt.

we went to botanica on thursday.
everything was blooming + it was gorgeous!

HE IS RISEN!

(this week's is sooo good!)

i am trying out a new format + name for my weekly posts.
i used to recap each week with a series called the weekly.
we will see how long it lasts, lol.

this was a strange, long week.
we (okay, jared!) spent countless hours scouring the internet for a used car.
and we all know the used car market is ridiculous right now.
BUT we finally found one on saturday morning!
i am now the proud owner of a jeep patriot.
and we paid for it in cash, which neither of us have even been able to do.
praise the Lord!

one of our trees has the prettiest magenta blooms + it makes my heart so happy!

"turn my eyes from looking at worthless things;
and give me life in Your ways."
[psalm 119:37]

i finished finlay donovan is killing it on audio this week. 4.5 stars!  [affiliate links]
i am currently reading clap when you land (novel in verse!) + it's just okay.
my hold finally came in for the 3rd book in the inspector gamache series. v excited!

WHY DOES LEMON CAKE HAVE TO BE SO GOOD??

one of my goals for this quarter is to host friends in our home once a week.
we hosted twice this week!
i am learning how to be a good host in this process, which is a learning curve for this introvert.

we were in oklahoma for a few days this week.
i helped my mom out at the accounting office.
we watched a movie at the renovated theater in cushing.
it was a fun weekend!

jackson got his first big boy bike.

i finished another novel in verse.

i published my newsletter for march.

"he who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
i will say to the Lord, "my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom i trust."
