-  i bought a pack of film for my instax camera so we could use it over the weekend. i let jackson snap a few photos. it was fun to use it with him. we got some cute polaroids from our afternoon at the lake.

-  after using my instax, i now want to get out my film camera. my grandma gracie left if for me after she went to be with Jesus. i used it once + loved the slowness of the whole process. i think i may need to dust it off + give it a try again.

-  most people may think grief happens in the moments following a loss. but it can also be little moments of silent grief- like filling out a form for jackson's school, + when i got to the question, "how many siblings do i have?" - writing 'zero' made me sad.

-  i have been drinking this tea with a big spoonful of honey. it's delicious.

-  i have had some lower back pain this week. this is 35, i guess.

-  cinnamon candy > peppermint candy

-  halloween is one of my favorite nights in our neighborhood. (the fourth of july is my favorite.)  we all get together + walk around with our kids + it seems so simple, but i absolutely love it.

-  we took one last camping trip for the season. the boys + i has so much fun! we hiked, sat by a campfire, made s’mores, + enjoyed the cool weather.

-  i normally post a recap of the month on the blog, but now that i am posting musings from the week, it feels unnecessary to recap what i've already posted. idk. maybe i'll change my mind. that's the beauty of this space: it isn't for anyone but me. yes, i share it for all to see, but at the end of the day, it's mine to curate + create.

-  i had a cold that kept me down this week, so there aren't a lot of musings.

-  you know that smell when you first turn your heater on? it is in my top five of favorite smells. i love it so much!

-  this episode of crime junkie with amanda knox was informative + eye-opening.

-  i made another reel on IG. (this is so fun!)

-  "you can't expect God to be your source of peace if the world is the source of your satisfaction."

-  jackson was "star of the week" at school. he was soooooo excited!

-  how can one's football team be 8-0 + it still feels bad? lol.

-  i am on a mission to extend the time in between washing my hair. right now, it's every two days. my goal is every five days.

-  i had the day off on monday. i took jackson to school, sipped a latte, + relaxed. after i picked him up, i made lunch + prepped food for the week. it was a delightful day off.

-  i had two meetings at work on tuesday, and it made me feel very bougie.

-  if you've been following me since the blogging days, you might remember my sock curls. i decided to try it out again. i have never in my life received more compliments on my hair (or anything for that matter, lol) than i did this week.

-  one of my biggest pet peeves is when people pronounce the work "picture" as "pitcher". for example:  "let me see that pitcher." so cringe. are we at a baseball game? are you thirsty? lol.

-  jackson had a pumpkin hunt at his school this week. he was so excited. jared helped him carve it over the weekend. this time of year is so fun!

-  i made the cutest reel on IG

-  we ventured to downtown ICT on friday night. we ate at district taqueria. if you're local to wichita, you must get their queso. it's so unique! i also had a potato taco that changed my life. we headed to milkfloat afterward for some coffee (iced americano for me!). we then attempted to go to botanica, but half of wichita was there, so we opted for the wild lights at the zoo. it was a really fun evening. (and the weather was perfection.)

-  i finished gently + lowly. five stars. all the stars. this will absolutely be a re-read for me.

-  i cannot tell you how many times i start to press "send" on a tweet, only to instead press "delete". i have lots of opinions about lots of things, but does anyone really need to know them? i shared my thoughts on abortion recently in my IG stories, but it's because i only saw one side being presented by christians who kept saying they were "in the middle". but when it comes to other topics, am i adding to the noise or am i presenting another viewpoint for others to consider? it doesn't really seem like anyone wants to listen to opposing thoughts these days.

-  pro tip: when you bring collagen to work so you can have an adrenal creamsicle in the afternoon, make sure not to put it in a baggie. it will look like you're bringing drugs to work.

-  the red river rivalry never ceases to stress me out. BOOMER!

-  when fb + ig went down this week, i was glad. social media sites could use weekly outages if you ask me. (this is another reason i want to bring blogging back like it used to be. blogs never went down back in the day. and it was just more fun, too. it's why i moved my weekly musings posts back to the blog.)

-  i ordered my 2022 powersheets this week!

-  this week marked five years since the reverie transformed into luke's diner for the day. this was such a memorable morning, but i can't help but also think of how i had no idea i was pregnant with jackson at the time.

-  my handwriting is in all caps, but i type in all lowercase.

-  those that scream the loudest are not always the majority.

-  we camped friday night + came home saturday evening. it was short, but we had a lot of fun.

-  i finished declutter like a mother. i found this book very helpful. i am slowly working my way throughout our home to get rid of the excess, and allie provided some insightful tips. i will say that some of the phrases she used made me roll my eyes, but i did like how she presents minimalism as not just having 2 spoons, 5 neutral sweaters, + 1 bowl, but as having purpose in the home.

-  we went to the zoo on sunday afternoon + the weather was absolutely perfection.

-  i forgot to mention this is last week's post, but i finally received my new winter coat! i completely understand all the hype around it now. i am going to be nice + warm this winter season. now if i could just find a new pair of booties.

-  i really enjoyed this article from phylicia masonheimer about kids sitting through church. while we don't have jackson with us in every service, we let him come with us once a month. we started this earlier in the year + felt it was beneficial for him to learn how to sit in church.

-  we took a vacation to broken bow lake with my family this week! it was so much fun. my parents ended up having to leave because my dad had some health issues, but we made the best of it + had fun for him.

-  my brother + i played so many games of pool. it was great bonding time for us. (i also lost a lot, lol.)

-  outdoorsy vacation > beach vacation

-  "one of the greatest uses of twitter and facebook will be to prove at the last day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time."  [john piper]

-  we finally bought a zoo membership.

-  this tiktok account is giving me all the homesteading vibes.

-  i drink an adrenal creamsicle every afternoon. it's so good!

-  there is a situation in our life right now that has caused uncertainty in our future. in the past, i would have went into a tailspin. but this is a testament to the fruit in my life; to what God has done. He is faithful to provide. even if it all went to crap, i would still have His peace. knowing this made the news hit different. the enemy expected me to crumble, but i just said, "even so, it's all going to be okay."

-  the sunday scaries are in full force today!
