and just like that--
i am 40!
i celebrated my birthday with chick-fil-a breakfast, a trip to barnes & noble, and dinner at chicken salad chick. it was a chill day. my coworkers celebrated my birthday when i returned from my long weekend. they decorated my cubicle + we ate jason's deli for lunch + they surprised me with the most beautiful bouquet of floral cupcakes! it was such a thoughtful idea.
turning 40 had been this Big Thing for six months leading up to my birthday. it was hard to wrap my head around the fact that i was turning 40. i remember when my mom turned 40. the math just didn't add up for me because i'm still just a teenager, right?! thankfully, that's how i still feel most days.
it also wouldn't be my birthday if jared didn't get sick.
because, of course 😂
RANDOMS FROM MY BIRTHDAY WEEK:
- i finished reading the shampoo effect. this may sound odd, but i really enjoy jenny jackson's writing, but some of the topics are so opposite of my worldview that many times i would think, "wow, i love how she wrote that." but then the next page, i would cringe at what the characters were doing/saying.
- i have been doing a lot of soul searching on friendship lately. looking at myself, at past friendships, and the situations that have led me to this point in my life. i have pinpointed a few things that happened in my past that really shaped how i view female friendships. i will be blunt: they skewed my view + it is really insightful to the way i have approached friendship as an adult. i can look inward + know i haven't always been a good friend, but i am also aware enough to know a lot of the time i just have a wall up when it comes to letting others in. this hasn't been the most fun of processes, but i can tell you that the Lord cares about all aspects of our lives + wants us to be healthy + whole, but that only happens with + through Him.
- we ended the week with 3 of the 4 of us coming down with covid. thankfully we are on the mend. i sipped a lot of tea + randomly started watching the west wing.
- a bible verse i have meditated on this week:
"and the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail."
