• seek the Lord // yes! this is not necessarily a goal or something to mark off the list. it’s something i wanted to actively work on each day. from the moment i saw those two pink lines, it was a fight of faith each moment of every day. what i know to be true in this: He is faithful + He is trustworthy + He is good because He knows no other way to be.
• lose weight // 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i had a baby, sooooo 🙃
• find my style // LOL, that’s hard to do when none of your clothes fit 😂
• break free from people pleasing // this is a work in progress, but the Lord revealed a lot about myself + my tendencies in this area. what i learned was that serving others (as Jesus tells us to do) became muddied with wanting to please those same people. i've had to learn that balance of loving others but not being a doormat to demands + perceived obligations.
• read 30 books // this one hurts a little. i love reading! it’s one of my favorite hobbies. between pregnancy + postpartum, it just didn’t happen for me like i had hoped this year. and that’s okay! i still read a few good books.
• be involved in our community // 🥹 when i think about this year, i will think about all the people who showed up for us, whether it was prayer, homemade meals, hugs, encouragement, etc. our community of friends + family are so special, and i am grateful beyond what words can convey.
other random goals + to-dos:
- celebrate leap day with a donut + an iced coffee (my leap day tradition) ✅
- publish a month-in-review for each month of 2024 ✅
- three weeks of social media fasts for our church consecration weeks ✅
- journal each day in my hobonichi ✅
//
all in all, my goals for the year were something i held with open hands. i used to be so rigid with my yearly goals, but not so much anymore. what i have learned is the best goals, ideas, and changes are formed throughout the year, long after the shininess of january 1st wears off.
like in february of this year, when i bought an apple watch to help track my steps. it turned into a daily motivation to meet my step goal, which helped me lose weight + feel really good.
it was a good year, full of change + new mercies. 🖤
