after the whirlwind that was 2024, i am coming into 2025 with a little less sleep, but a full heart.
i also have a lot of goals! (it's more of a hopeful to-do list, really.)
last year was all about having our miracle girl, and now we are living life with a new baby. it has changed a lot of our habits + routines.
the goals i have set for 2025 are all rooted in the Lord. if it doesn’t give Him glory or point back to Him, i don’t want it. i also hold a lot of these ideas with open hands; my days are lived for the Lord + i don’t want to pursue things that are not part of His plan for my life.
i don’t have a word for the year, but i do have words for the vibe of the year:
luxurious
cozy
romantic
creative
here are my goals for 2025–
FAITH ✝️
the last 11 months of my faith have changed my life. i am not the same person i was this time last year. all praise to the Lord for our miracle girl + increased faith + showing us His character as we walked out our faith. i bought a new bible at the end of last year. it felt right to start fresh in this new season of life. these goals are ones i cultivated last year + want to continue in the new year:
• be in constant conversation/prayer with the Lord
• study the bible, even if it is meditating on one verse
• stay in community with our church + oneighty
• participate in church consecration (3 weeks, no social media)
HOME 🏡
after being home for 12 weeks of maternity leave, i realized our home needs a good cleaning + decluttering + revamp. adding a baby to our family means more stuff, but it is the motivation i need to pare it all down.
• declutter each + every space
• have a yard sale in the spring
• organize the basement
• give my bathroom a revamp
• replace our bathroom towels
• shampoo the carpets in all bedrooms
WELLNESS 🚶🏼♀️
i have been trying (and failing a little bit) to be nice about the way i view/speak about my postpartum body. i grew a human last year. i had a c-section. i have successfully breastfed my baby for three months. my body has been through a lot! i have a weight loss goal in mind, but i am not going to pursue it until i am finished breastfeeding. my caloric intake is high + it's partly why i have been able to nurse june for this long. but there are other things i can do-
• 7k - 10k steps each day
• fuel + hydrate my body
• get my pink back
• be nice to my postpartum body
READING 📚
last year was one of my worst reading years to date. i had a baby, but i also had a personal conviction about the types of books i was reading. while i have never been into books with smut, i was reading popular books that had content i didn’t morally agree with. so i started doing a little bit of research before picking up a popular novel.
• read 20 books
** here are some books i’m excited to read:
FIND MY STYLE 👖
this was originally a goal for 2024, but the only new clothing i purchased was maternity clothes. this is still something i will hold loosely, as i don't want to invest in a whole new wardrobe when i know i will eventually be losing a little more weight. but again - there are things i can do in the meantime:
• buy a pair of ballet flats
• invest in a new long winter coat
• invest in new jewelry
• style > trends
DOCUMENT MY LIFE 📝
something i learned about myself during maternity leave is that i need some form of creative outlet. floral photography is always going to be my first love, but documenting my life comes in a close second. i have been junk journaling for several years-- long before tiktok coined the name. if you invite me to a birthday party or even a restaurant, chances are high that i will keep a party napkin or memento to add to my journal. it's so fun to have these memories on paper!
• document each day in my hobonichi cousin
• use my hobonichi original as a creative art journal
• write in my one line a day journal
• publish a month in review each month of 2025
• publish weekly musings each week of the year
RANDOMS 💜
• continue to breastfeed as long as i can
• send out a newsletter at the end of each month
• write thank you notes
• send christmas cards (maybe, LOL)
• dedicate june at church
• buy flowers once a month
