  H A P P E N I N G S -

+  three beautiful days of 60º weather!

+  i met the boys for a coffee date on my lunch break. it was fun to hang out with them.

+  we took a short overnight trip to oklahoma to see my family.

+  i had a monday (federal holiday) off work. i still woke up early to read + have some time to myself. jared + i watched the new ant man movie in the afternoon. we ended the evening with dinner at panera + some shopping at target.

+  we got together with our young adult class from church. we ate at one of my favs - chicos - and then ventured over to cocoa dolce for coffee. jared + i drank espresso shots + shared a birthday cake cookie. it was a fun night + i am so thankful for the body of Christ.

  L E S S O N S  +  O B S E R V A T I O N S:

+  He is with us, even (especially!) in the trials of life.

+  over the last several months, i have developed a complicated relationship to celebrity culture. those who know me can attest that i love me some pop culture - and i still do. but it's become increasingly hard to follow. i have taken a bird's-eyes approach, pulling back on the juicy celeb tiktoks + such. i still watch poplitics, but that's about it. (as i wrote this, i was reminded of a song i was obsessed with back in '09 - hollywood's not america.)

+  i started taking the weekends off social media + it is such a great habit!

+  in the same way gentle parenting validates feelings instead of acknowledging them, we have an entire generation that expects the same thing. in validating one's feelings, we run the risk of making those feelings to be facts. our emotions are not a bad thing. we can acknowledge them without giving them power.

+  i know art is good when i wish i had created it.
